Downstream makers in the Taiwan WLAN industry estimate that, excluding chips used in Intel Centrino WLAN modules, Broadcom led the market with shipments of 20 million WLAN chips last year, for a 45% market share. Atheros came second with 12 million units and a 27% share, the makers said.
